2018 Remembrance Day commemoration special event

The Ringwood Pipe Band along with other Pipe Bands around the world will play the tune ‘Battle’s O’er’ in public places around the world at 5 pm AEDT on 11 November 2018 to commemorate 100 years since the signing of the First World War Armistice. We will join with thousands of pipers and drummers taking part, in shopping centres, on street corners and other places where communities gather.

We will play at the Ringwood Clock Tower, please come along and support this important commemoration.

Parking.  Please arrive between 4:00 pm and 4:15 pm and park at the ringwood RSL. It is a short walk from there to the clock tower.  We start play around 4:45 pm culminating in the Battle’s O’er at 5pm.

2018 Maroondah Festival

The Ringwood Highland Pipe Band will be appearing at the Maroondah Festival on Sunday 11 November 2018.  Event details follow. If you are in the area, come along and enjoy some traditional Scottish highland pipe band tunes.

Performance Location:  Sounds Stage at the northern end of the athletics track where the community expo is located.

Marquee location: C26 and C27 on the map below.

Parking.  Parking will be a challenge on the day. We will have parking permits for a small number of people to park in the Swinburne Uni car park on Norton road. Norton road is closed for general traffic. You will need a pass to enter. For the rest of us, if you get there early enough you will be able to find parking nearby.  If you arrive later then you may need to walk a bit.  Another option is to park in Eastfield park (Eastfield Road Croydon) and catch one of the shuttle buses to the Festival site.  Buses will run every 10-15 minutes or so.

Chairs.If you plan on sticking around for some time to man the marquee, please bring a chair to sit on. This year we are using festival provided facilities and we are only being supplied 2 chairs.

Festival duration. The festival runs from 10am to 4pm. We will need some people on site from 10am.  If you can please stick around and help us at the marquee for some of the day.  We will be packing up a little early so we can make it to the Remembrance day event in Ringwood.

2018 Notice of Annual General Meeting

Dear Band Members,

The Annual General Meeting will take place at Croydon Primary School, Crn. Kent Ave. & Croydon Rd. , Croydon 3136 on Wednesday the 15th, July 2018 commencing at 8.30pm.

The purpose of the meeting is to receive the Annual Reports and to elect the Committee for the ensuing Year 2018/2019.

Only fully financial members are eligible to vote. Junior Members under the age of 16 years cannot vote. Junior Members under the age of 18 years cannot hold a position on the Committee.

The Committee is to be comprised of :-

  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Administrative Officer
  • Quarter Master
  • Pipe Bands Victoria Councillor’s (1 & 2)
  • Ordinary Members:

Note:- the number of ordinary members as decided by resolution of a general meeting of the band.

  • Drum Major
  • Drum Sergeant

All current Committee positions will be declared vacant and the above positions be filled from the successful nominations.

If more than one person is nominated for a position, then a secret ballot will be conducted to resolve the successful candidate.

Voting:-

Each Financial Band Member is entitled to one personal vote or one vote by proxy submitted prior to the AGM.

2018 ANZAC Day March

ANZAC day 2016

The Ringwood Highland Pipe Band is honoured to again be performing during the RSL ANZAC day Commemoration March from the Melbourne CBD to the Shrine of Remembrance on Wednesday 25th April 2018.  Please join us for this solemn yet enjoyable event.

We are scheduled to step off from the corner of Flinders St and Swanston Street at 10:35 am.

Information for band members

Mini-bus transport

We will be running a mini-bus from the band hall into the city for the march this year.  If you are interested in getting a lift on the bus please let John Wicks and Peter Watson know.  Their email addresses and phone numbers will be emailed to you all separately.

The bus will depart the band hall at 09:00 am sharp

We expect the bus to arrive back at the Ringwood RSL at approximately 3:00 pm.  Please understand that this is a rough guide to timing as thing can change during this hectic day.  If you must be somewhere else by a set time you may want to make your own arrangements.  If you need to arrange to be picked up a call when we leave to return to Ringwood would be prudent.

Arrival Time in the city

Band members traveling to the city themselves lease be ready with your pipes and drums to tune up no later than 10:00 am. Please allow extra time to find a parking space and to walk to our marshaling point when planning your trip into the city.

Uniform

At this stage, please bring your jackets – the long range forecast is for warm weather… but this is Melbourne.  We will confirm this detail closer to the day.

Program

  • Meet at 09:00 am in the Ringwood PB hall (if taking the bus)
  • Meet at Marshalling area no later than. 10:00 am
  • Step-off time is 10:35 am
  • March completion atapprox 11:00 am
  • Refreshments are served at the shrine (water, coffee, tea).
  • We will then meet up and travel or other engagements in the city area.
  • Travel back to Ringwood band hall from approx 02:30 pm
  • Arrive at the band hall at approx 3:00pm
  • Take own transport to the Ringwood RSL
  • Perform at the Ringwood RSL from approx 3:15 pm  for 15-20 minutes

2018 Ringwood RSL ANZAC Commemoration

Ringwood Clock Tower

The Ringwood Highland Pipe Band is honoured to again be performing during the annual Ringwood RSL ANZAC Commemoration ceremony on Sunday 22nd April 2018.  As per previous years the band will meet at Ringwood Square at 0900 to march to the Clock Tower where the commemoration ceremony will be held.  Please join us for this solemn ceremony.

Arrival Time

Band members please be ready with your pipes and drums to tune up at 09:00 am.

Uniform

Please bring your jackets – if its warm there will be cars in the car park where we can leave them if need be.  Better to have them with us.

Parking

There is ample parking in Ringwood Square (corner of Maroondah Hwy and New Street Ringwood).

Some band members will be parking their cars in the Ringwood Railway Station car park just opposite the Ringwood RSL.  I will be running a pseudo shuttle service for pipers and drummers, so if you’d like your car to be at the end of the march please look out for me to give you a lift.  Also, if you do take up this offer, please look out for band members that may need to walk back to the march start and offer to give them a lift to their cars.

Program

  • Meet at 09:00 am in the Ringwood square car park
  • Form up on Seymour Street approx. 09:45 am
  • Step-off time is 10:00 am
  • Commemoration and wreath laying at the clock tower from 10:30 am
  • Reform at 11:00 am and march to the RSL where refreshments are provided.

2018 Rotary Maroondah Schools ANZAC Service

The Ringwood Highland Pipe Band will be performing during the Rotary Maroondah Schools ANZAC Service on Wednesday 18th April at Ringwood Lake.
